Hi @jk174,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Internal Battery Error 601 is a common error message that indicates that there is a problem with the internal battery of your HP laptop. This error message usually appears during the booting process and is accompanied by a message that says "The system has detected the storage capacity of the battery stated below to be very low."
This error message indicates that the internal battery of your laptop is not functioning properly and may need to be replaced. The internal battery is responsible for powering the clock and maintaining system settings when your laptop is turned off.
To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps.
Check the battery: Open the battery compartment and remove the battery. Check the battery for any signs of damage, such as cracks or leaks.
Reset the BIOS: Restart the laptop and enter the BIOS setup by pressing the appropriate key (usually F2, F10, or Del). Once in the BIOS setup, navigate to the Power Management section and reset the BIOS to default settings.
Update the BIOS: Check the HP website for any available BIOS updates for your laptop model. Download and install any available updates.
It's important to note that the internal battery error 601 messages can also appear if you are using a non-HP battery. In this case, you should replace the battery with a genuine HP battery to resolve the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
