HP Laptop 15-bs0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi! I've been getting the 601 battery alerts whenever I start my laptop saying that my internal battery needs to be replaced. I've asked my family and friends about it, because I'm not very bright when it comes to technology, and my uncle says the battery can't be replaced because it the battery is inside the laptop, and he does not know how to replace it. On the other hand, my friend says that I simply just need to buy the long looking battery that I can remove from the back of my laptop. Due to the differing answers, I'm quite conflicted. Could anyone explain the differences between the external/internal battery for a laptop and possibly provide a link to purchase a replacement battery if possible? Thank you for your time and support!

Check the model closely but this should be the maintenance and service guide for your laptop http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05493257

I say check because all the models in here are 15t-bs0xx

The error you are getting is for the primary battery, which is the large removable battery. There should be a part number on it. You can get a battery from the HP parts store or you can get one from someone like battdepot.com

There are 2 batteries listed

919701-850 longer life

919700-850 or 919700-851 standard life

Thank you so much! So just to clarify, the battery that I need to buy should be the one from here (https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=531CB7E4B159414087E77502ED40BF10&SearchIn=P...), right?

Also, quick question, what is the difference between the internal/primary and external/secondary battery that the 601/602 errors talk about? I've heard differing answers about the internal battery; some saying that it is the CMOS battery while others say it's the removable/rechargeable one.

Thank you again for your help!
