Hi @Manish0308,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP ENVY x360 Laptop 13-Ay0045au doesn't have an M.2 slot for an internal SSD, and you want to use another SSD for a different operating system, you have two main options: using an internal SSD with an enclosure or using an external SSD.
Each option has its advantages and considerations:
Internal SSD with Enclosure:
Pros:
- Typically faster data transfer speeds compared to external SSDs.
- More secure and less prone to physical damage or disconnection.
- May be more cost-effective if you already have an extra internal SSD.
Cons:
- Requires opening up your laptop to connect the internal SSD, which may void the warranty or be challenging for some users. And HP will not be responsible for any issues.
- Limited portability compared to an external SSD.
External SSD:
Pros:
- Easy to use and doesn't require opening up your laptop.
- Portable and can be easily connected to other devices.
- Does not void your laptop's warranty.
Cons:
- Generally slower data transfer speeds compared to internal SSDs.
- May be slightly more expensive than internal SSDs of the same capacity.
Considerations:
- If performance is a priority and you're comfortable opening up your laptop, an internal SSD with an enclosure might be the better choice.
- If you prioritize ease of use, portability, and avoiding any potential warranty issues, an external SSD is a convenient solution.
Ultimately, the choice depends on your preferences, priorities, and how you plan to use the additional storage. Both options can work, so choose the one that aligns best with your needs and technical comfort.
Before you take any decision, it's a good idea to contact HP support or visit an authorized service center for assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
