I replaced the screen recently due to damage and everything has been working fine for a few weeks of minimal usage. I've now turned it on to find that the internal battery won't hold any charge. Is it possible there's a hardware issue from putting it back together after the screen replacement? Do I need to open it back up and check for anything specific? It's not old enough/been used enough for the battery to be dead from over usage. I'd like to try what I can before having to purchase a replacement battery. Thanks.

I understand your laptop’s internal battery is no longer charging after a recent screen replacement. Let’s go through some steps to check what might be causing this.
Check Power Adapter & Charging Port
Ensure the charger and cable are working by testing with another compatible HP adapter if available.
Inspect the charging port for dust, bent pins, or loose connections.
Battery & Adapter Reset
Shut down the laptop.
Unplug the power adapter.
Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to drain residual power.
Plug the adapter back in and try powering on.
Battery Status in BIOS
Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS.
Look for the “Battery” or “Diagnostics” section to see if the battery is detected.
If the battery shows “Not Present” or “Error,” it points to a connection or hardware issue.
HP Hardware Diagnostics
Press F2 during startup to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
Run the battery test and note the results.
Update BIOS & Drivers
Go to HP Support Website, enter your model number, and update to the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
Sometimes power management updates help resolve charging issues.
I hope this helps.
