When setting up my laptop out of the box brand new it told me that the warranty is out of date by more than a year. How is that possible and how can I fix this?

I’ve tried reaching out to HP but they do not seem to have any customer support. Messaging support just leads to wrong link after wrong link. It’s like they are working from a super outdated script.

This community option seems like the only option left. Can anyone help?

It’s occurred to me that this might be a moot exercise as if I cannot get help just to update the warranty date what are the chance HP could or would actually fix anything if it did go wrong?

HP starts the warranty clock ticking the minute the PC leaves the assembly plant.

So the longer the time elapses from assembly date to the purchase date, the less time remains on the warranty.

Please contact HP customer service beginning at the link below and submit a support request to have the warranty start and end dates adjusted to the date you purchased the notebook.

That would be your only option that I know of.

If you don't get anywhere with this, you may want to contact the HP corporate HQ in Reading.
