HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1025ax
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey there,

I have an HP Pavilion Gaming 15 (Model No.- ec-1025ax) which has 2 ram slots with one 8gb stick already inserted.

I am thinking of adding another 16gb of the same manufacturer and of the same frequency to make it 24gb,  then would it be better than adding an 8gb ram to make it 16gb dual channel. Please note than I do not further intend to upgrade it to 32gb.

Thank You.

You're very welcome.

Since those applications use up more memory that just checking e-mails, surfing the web and whatnot, I would add the 16 GB memory chip.

Not to mention that one day you may change your mind about maxing out the memory to 32 GB.

Thanks for sharing those discussions,

Those clearly say that the dual channeled 16gb works better than the single channeled 24gb, but I've watched a couple of videos regarding the same and I came to know about  this "Flex Mode" thing in which the already existing 8gb will pair with an 8gb from the additional 16gb to work in dual channel and the remaining 8gb will run in single channel. Please let me know if there is any benefit of the flex mode over the dual channeled 16gb, as even if it is a little I will upgrade it to 24gb.

Note: I mostly use my laptop for video editing, animations and programming purposes.

Alright,

So the 24gb in flex mode will perform better than the 16gb in dual channel?

HP Recommended

I think so because of the extra 8 GB of memory.
