HP Laptop 14-dq0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello there!

I bought my HP notebook (HP Laptop 14-dq0xxx) less than a week ago, and I am extremely satisfied. I don't need it for gaming (although I've played several games) but for checking news and email, reading online stuff, writing, studying, etc.

I was interested on how upgradable this laptop is -- hardware-wise? The storage is 64GB in total. If I'm thinking of upgrading it in the future, what are my chances?

Thank you for reading.

You're very welcome.

What I meant was that if you open up the notebook to upgrade the memory, and you happen to see a M.2 slot on the motherboard, it doesn't work, and there is no way to enable it.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 14 Laptop PC

Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info.

I assume that your notebook has the 64 GB eMMC drive.

Those cannot be upgraded, and the M.2 SSD slot, if your notebook has one, is disabled.

Thank you for your reply.

However, I'm not clear about something: What do you mean the M.2 SSD slot is disabled -- it doesn't exist anymore/it's been removed, or there is a chance of enabling it?

Thank you once again.

Okay. I accepted the Solution.

The thing is why would anyone disable it on the motherboard is beyond me! Sounds like something done deliberately.

Anyway... I guess, that's it.

Since I don't work for or represent, HP, I would have no idea why users can't take advantage of the M.2 slot (if there is one).

For some reason, the notebooks with the eMMC drives are not upgradable.

Folks have tried to add 2.5" drives in the models that have a SATA connector, M.2 drives if they have a M.2 SSD, and all reported not working.
