I wanted to upgrade my RAM and i've installed into the slot which earlier had 4GB ram along with that i added another RAM of 4GB, even after inserting i checked the BIOS menu it seems to show only 4GB RAM to reconfirm i had to check the Properties window even there it was 4GB..
My question here is my laptop compatible for expansion of not

Is it an HP Notebook - 15-ac636tu, you need to know what is the model/product of your machine. its specs :
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04919812
It has Two non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots (Intel Core processors)
DDR3L-1600 dual channel support. Supports up to 8 GB of system RAM in the following configurations:
- 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)
- 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1)
- 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) or (2048×2)
- 2048-MB total system memory (2048×1)
Probably it is out of warranty now and you can ADD 1 stick of 4GB of RAM to your machine to make 8GB using the following part
4-GB (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) part # 691740-005
Or use CPU-Z tool to find out the brand and specs of the existing RAM and order a same one. You can download CPU-Z tool from
https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html
Regards.
