Hi,

 

I want to upgrade my HP ENVY 17-u163cl(MFR SKU:W2K93UA#ABA) HDD with SSD.

 

Please let me know whether HP ENVY 17-u163cl is compatible with Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD 500GB for upgrading?

 

Does the HP ENVY 17-u163cl has an additional slot to fit both SSD and HDD?

The series supports M.2 SSD and normal 2.5" HDD/SSD unfortunately from its manual (page 2 and page 27):

which show it supports M.2 SATA 3 therefore Samsung 970 EVO Plus which is M.2 NVMe specs won't work. You can use Samsung 860 EVO series.

My laptop HP ENVY 17-u163cl product number is 5CG7312F92.

 

Does this [Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E500B/AM)]
