I want to replace the hard drive on my wife's Pavilion au00xx with a SSD. Is the Samsung NAND 860EVO compatible with her notebook?

Thanks for your help!

Yes no problem. When you get the back off you will see this:

possible M.2 slot circled in redpossible M.2 slot circled in red

Service Manual

Samsung makes an 860 Evo SSD in both M.2 ("gumstick") and 2.5 inch (HDD size) form factors. You can 100% replace the existing 5400 rpm SATA hard drive with a 2.5 inch SATA SSD and you also have a possibility to keep the HDD and add an M.2 SSD. You need to open it anyway you might do that and check if you have the slot circled in red in the above picture.

SATA M.2 and 2.5 inch SSDs cost and perform just about the same as each other.
