I am curious as to whether or not there is a compatibility list for replacement screens for my particular model of laptop; an HP Spectre x360 13-ac013dx? If so, could someone please direct me to this information, or if anyone happens to know of any compatible screens that will work for replacement, it would be greatly appreciated.
Will I really have to spend more than $220 to replace this on ebay(and charge my customer $300+ after labor)?
Tanks,
J

I ran a laptop repair shop for a few years on the weekends and have replaced more laptop screens than I can count. The secret you need to know is laptop makers buy screens from screen makers like LG. So you need to remove the screen you want to replace and find the screen makers part number on the back of it and search eBay for that and your options open up. Now all the Dells, Lenovos and Acers that use the same screen will be possible sources for replacement parts for you. Has to be the same general form factor, the same number of pin connector port and have the same mounting hole ports.
The specs describe the screen as:
13.3" diagonal FHD UWVA BrightView WLED-backlit narrow bezel multitouch-enabled edge-to-edge glass (1920 x 1080)
Since its a touchscreen you also have to figure out if its the underlying panel or just the digitizer and glass that need replacement.
HP only supplies a full hinge up replacement as you have likely found out:
See page 16 of the manual:
918030-001
918031-001
Its one of those part numbers depending on chassis color because HP includes the plastic housing, too which you really do not need as you can reuse the original one.
$180 on eBay with free shipping. That is actually not bad for a FHD high tech touchscreen. How do you think the Mercedes dealer has to explain it when they have to tell the customer a new transmission is $8500?? These things are not cheap to fix.
If you want to discuss further happy to help because I would not be giving up at this point if this customer had come into the shop I worked in. I would explore possible glass only solutions but best day I can't see any way to do this repair and make a fair return for you for less than about $250-275.

Thanks bud, I was hoping you'd be the one to reply. I saw what a great reply you did to someone with a similar problem with a compac device . I knew there was some trick to finding the right part( e.g., searching with only the first five characters of the model number), just couldn't remember what it was. I appreciate your verbose and informative reply( and so fast you must wear out keyboards regularly, use a Devorak, or DragonDictate =^)
THANK YOU!
