Hi, I have a 15-bs212wm that's running a bit slow nowadays. I've been thinking of maybe upgrading a few parts like a upgrading from 4gb of RAM to 8gb and maybe switching the 500gb HDD to a 1tb SSD. Another possibility was buying a better laptop either brand new or second hand, but upgrading the parts seems cheaper.
The manual says that Intel N4000 CPUs can only get a max of 4gb of RAM. I've read from other people saying that they were fine doing the 8gb upgrade and the Crucial website shows that it sells 8gb sticks that are compatible with it. So I just want to know what the actual limit is before I spend my money.
Also, the manual has a chart for storage. It has a section for both HDD and SSD capacity. The HDD goes to 1tb, while the SSD charts only goes up to 512gb. Does this mean it supports only to 512gb on an SSD and 1tb on a HDD, or did I completely misread that?

Hi:
I'm surprised the manual only indicates 1 x 4 GB of memory is supported.
I always thought it was 8 GB.
The Intel specs for the processor indicate it will support 1 x 8 GB of memory.
Intel Celeron Processor N4000 4M Cache up to 2.60 GHz Product Specifications
You should be fine replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 1 TB 2.5" SATA SSD.
The drive capacities are normally just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported, and the SSD capacities you see listed are for the notebooks with the Intel Core processors that come with M.2 2280 SSD slots.
