HP ENVY x360 - 15m-bp112dx

Hi,

I want to update my laptop by adding 1TB NVMe M2.0 PICe 4.0 SDD along with existing 1TB Sata HDD storage.

Will it be possible?

If so, which are the supported NVMe M2.0 storage capacity for HP ENVY x360 - 15m-bp112dx?

Kindly suggest supported SSD memory Gen and maximum capacity.

Thank you

Karthik Bammidi

Hi:

Yes, you can do that but note the Gen 4 NVMe SSD will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from your notebook's Gen 3 NVMe slot.

Below is the link to the service manual:

c05527167.pdf (hp.com)

It shows that dual drive configurations are supported.

In order to boot from the NVMe SSD it may be necessary to format the 2.5" drive and remove Windows from it because notebooks that come with dual drive configurations have no operating system on the 2.5" drive and it is to be used for storage only.

Normally, the Windows boot manager will always want to boot from the SATA drive first and not the M.2 SSD.

Hi @paul

Thank you for your response.

so first I need to configure NVMe in machine then check the performance

Format the machine and install OS in NVMe memory.

Can you also suggest suitable Gen 3 NVMe ssd with 500GB and 1TB

Thanks

You're very welcome.

Yes, that is how I would do it if I was keeping the 2.5" drive.

Temporarily disconnect it.  Install Windows on the SSD and make sure everything works fine.

Then reconnect the 2.5" drive and format it.

Recommended drives:  You can click on the 500 GB option and see the price for that.
