Well, the title of this topic is pretty straightforward!
I am interested in buying the HP 250 G5 W4Q07EA (core i5-6200U, 256GB m.2 SSD, 8GB RAM)
And I was wondering if it is possible to add a 2.5'' SATA HDD without losing the existing m.2 SSD.
Can I just buy a HDD that fits in there and install it? Do I need to buy extra parts like the HDD bracket and cables?
Thank you very much in advance, and please excuse me if this issue has already been reported and solved!

Yes you can add an HDD."But you would need to remove the SSD."
You will need the HDD kit.
For HP 250/256 G5 models, the hard drive brackets and cable are available in the Hard Drive Hardware Kit, spare part number 859515-001 (ETB), and 859516-001 (non-ETB). |

Hey, I was wondering if you had any success with this? I'm also interested in having an extra HDD to go along with the SSD in the G5 laptop, but the videos in that tutorial look like they're putting the SSD and HDD in the same place using the same connector/slot, so did you have to remove the optical drive to get both in or am I mistaken?
Thanks!

Yes the SATA and SSD are installed in the same bay.
So its one or the other???
This is just my opinion but for the size of an SSD you think they could have found space for one.
I am hoping that @kostass123 will get back to us.

Glad to see someone that looks at the videos.

REO51ST, on your previous post you said that we can have both HDD and SSD on the G5 laptop. Now you're not quite sure?
I bought the G5 250 and I also bought a 2.5'' HDD but I didn't try to install in because I couldn't find the extra parts needed!
I tried some shops here in Athens, Greece and on ebay but no luck!!
So until I find the HDD kit I bought a HDD case and use it as an external drive!

I also think it's astonishing it's not explained anywhere what ETB stands for, leaving most of us in the dark about what specialised part to order to fix this unconventional arrangement. As with this thread, we're left hanging (at this time, no answer about ETB query) without knowing how to determine if we need ETB or not: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Does-this-laptop-have-an-extra...

After a lot of probing and talking to HP I came accross the following link.
https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/Default.aspx
You should be able to find spare parts using tthis link. However there is a catch, the hdd part does not seem to be available and it seems to have a lead time of 15 days. In addition to that the reply has completely failed to identify the part number is not for the kit you will actually need 3 separate parts.
- Hard drive connector board 817878-001
- Hard drive cable for use in HP Notebook PC models 855003-001
- Hard Drive Hardware Kit (ETB) 859515-001 or (non-ETB) 859516-001
Contact HP there is more to come, I did not find the process to be smooth at all, I was sent running in circles when I called HP untill I gave up and ordered an expensive 1TB M2 SSD.
