Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i am using an external monitor connected to my HP Omen 15 using the mini display port which is then converted to displayport using connector. My concern is that it becomes hot than normal when i connect and use. Is that okay or a subject of concern ? 
my laptop is

Matter of degree. How hot? If you are using the external monitor for gaming it will get hot and even if not, driving and external monitor requires the video card to work a bit more particularly if you also use the laptop screen at the same time.
