HP Pavilion dv6-2057cl Entertainment Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have resurrected my old  HP Pavilion dv6-2057cl Entertainment Notebook PC and reloaded the OS, since my even older desktop HP is acting up.  Can anyone tell me how (or if it's possible) to turn off the loud click noise that you get when you click the left or right mouse button on the built-in/keyboard mouse?  It's annoying as heck when I'm trying to work in a quiet location.  I've tried double-tapping the mouse pad itself but I don't get consistent results.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand you need information on disabling the built-in mouse buttons click sounds,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Is this a physical clicking noise or the program creating the sound within windows?

While you respond to that, here's what you could do:

  • Press Windows + X And select Control Panel,
  • Open Ease of Access
  • Make the Keyboard easier to use
  • Set up Filter Keys
  • Under other settings > Un-check - Beep when keys are pressed or accepted.
  • Select Apply and OK.

If the issue persists, update the BIOS and Chipset drivers and retry the above steps: Click here to find and install the drivers.

If it's a mechanical noise, please Contact HP to have the device either repaired or replaced:

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

* Enter Product number or select to auto detect

* Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"

They will be happy to assist you immediately.

If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.
