OMEN by HP - 15-dc0980nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi!

I recently took apart my HP Omen laptop I bought in 2018 to clean up dust inside. When I opened it up I noticed the battery had started swelling. My question is if it’s possible to use the laptop when there is no battery (internal) installed? Are there any safety precautions and will my laptop continue working like it did before? I only use the laptop plugged in anyways so that shouldn’t be a problem.

Thanks in advance!

Hi:

That should be fine, but you will always have to set the time and date and if you changed any BIOS settings, you would need to change them back to what you changed from the default settings.

Usually when you connect to the internet, Windows will synchronize the date and time settings.

Make sure the battery connector does not touch anything metal.

You may want to place a small piece of electrical tape over the opening until you decide to replace the battery.
