Is my HP Envy x360 m6-aq105dx vr ready? Is there a way to upgrade this laptop so the graphics card will run VR?

Here are the minimum specs you'll need to experience virtual reality:

1. Intel Core i5-6300HQ processor
2. Nvidia GeForce GTX 980, 1060, 1070 or 1080 GPU
3. 8GB of RAM
4. Two USB 3.0 ports
5. HDMI 1.4
6. 1920 x 1080 display
7. Windows 8 or 10

The big problem (and deal-breaker) for you is the video card. The processor is about as good as the minimum recommended i5. Yours is a low-voltage i7 so seems it would be faster than an i5, but not necessarily so.

There is no upgraded video card that can be placed inside the laptop so you can't do VR on the laptop screen. And right now, even though you have a USB-C port, USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 external video card docks like the Razer Core are having issues with HPs implementation of USB-C:

This would be an external solution and would require you run the VR on an external monitor, which is preferable anyway. I can't see images on a 15.6 inch laptop screen becoming an immersive VR experience....you need like a 27 inch or bigger monitor.

You might be surprised what comes out in the near future. I know that eGPUs are a hotbed of development and you might see compatible ones for your laptop becoming available in 2017. You never know.
