I've recently purchased this new laptop, however my dock sset up with 2 screens is older, I have downloaded the software for the dock. But it still isn't working? There is a usb c connection so I thought it would?

Hi,

The USB-C port on your notebook is not Thunderbolt, nor does it support DP alt mode. It is only for data transfer. So the dock will not work.

1 USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate (supports data transfer only and does not support charging or external monitors)

Hope it helps,

Oh dear, can I use a USBc to USB A adapter?

Hi,

Yes you can use USB-C Hub or USB-C to USB-A no problem

It will not support Monitors directly and other devices that need Thunderbolt, such as external Graphics setups.

Hope it helps,

David

My issue is that I need to connect two monitors and run my internet cable, and I was previously doing that with my dock using the usb c connection.  But no my new laptop does not have that usb c connection that supports the hp dock.  Is there a dock that uses the usb a connection that will take the two monitor connections and the ethernet connection.

Thanks for being so helpful.
