Hello there
I've had this laptop for almost 8 years and it's working marvellous. When I had first purchased the device, it used to work for 6 hours in a row with a single charge. However, now it can barely run for 3 hours (mostly 2-2.5 hours) and I do need to re-charge it again. I’ve already used HP Support Assistant programme to check out the battery health and the results show that it’s Normal (I guess it should be OK rather than Normal). So, does this mean that the battery is dying and in order to get the 6 hours charge again, I must be getting a replacement?
Also, if I need a replacement, does anyone know where I can get it replaced in the following cities?
Birmingham
Coventry
Edinburgh
I’m looking for a place where the battery can be replaced while I’m present.
Many thanks for your kind help in advance

8 years is a good run for a laptop battery. The advanced output from the HP Support Assistant battery check would tell us how many cycles it has on it and the remaining capacity of each cell to hold power.
This is the part number for your replacement battery:
(18) Battery, 3-cell, 58-WHr, 5.02-AHr, Li-ion (includes cable) 859356-855
And here is the Service Manual:
See p. 26. Its a relatively easy replacement. The battery is for sale here:
Any computer repair shop could do the replacement and even some place like a cell phone repair shop could likely do it. I'm not too familiar with tech services in the U.K. so going to have to leave you on your own to pick a shop. Good luck.

Just run through the test and when you get to the "results" page there is a blue hyperlink saying something like "show advanced results" click on it and it brings up a lot of info. Just cut and paste that into a response and we can help you decipher.

The battery is actually in remarkable shape for 8 years old. It has lost capacity however, and a new one would work better but can't guarantee it would get you back to 6 hours runtime. Replacement is not absolutely needed.
