Hello,
I'm looking to buy the HP Victus 16-d1972nd, the problem however is that it has a MediaTek wifi/bluetooth card. From my experience these cards have horrible connectivity so I would like to replace it with an Intel wifi/bt card.
Specifically my eyes are on the AX 411, since it allows dual band connectivity. However it tells me it requires "Cnvio2". After some research on Google I found out there's almost no details on what supports this, 99% of search results led to people asking the same questions, which have been unanswered.
Apparently it requires a 12th gen intel processor (which this laptop has), but it also requires for Cnvio2 to be working. I can absolutely find not a single post on any HP site that mentions Cnvio2. So hereby my question if I can put this AX 411 card into said laptop (Does it support Cnvio2)?

Hi:
That is correct.
Unless the notebook came with an Intel Cnvio2 card such as the AX211, no CNVio2 card would work, not even a AX211 or AX 201.

I don't know why HP uses any other model Wi-Fi card in their notebooks but Intel.
The Realtek and Mediatek cards are lousy, always were, and always will be.
If you are having Wi-Fi issues, try the Intel AX200...this specific part number.
Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro 160 HP part # L35282-005.
You can usually find this model Wi-Fi card on eBay.
Search by the HP part number, not the model of the Wi-Fi card.
You can also buy it directly from HP, but the cost is ridiculously high.

Below is the link to the service manual.
It's the only one HP has for your notebook's model series. It covers the older 16-d0xxx notebooks with the Intel 11th gen core processors.

Thanks for the reply, after this I've been going through the American HP shop, since the dutch shop doesn't really have customization. There I found laptops with the same MediaTek MT7921 card (that is not cnvio2 as far as im aware). With the ability to upgrade to the AX 211.
Does that mean I should assume these laptops can use an AX 411 as well? Since I read on a Reddit post that the AX 211 requires a 10th gen and AX 411 requires a 12th gen intel CPU. Sounds like AX 211 uses CNVio1 instead of 2. I still don't know if its just CPU based or also motherboard based.
I really want to try out the AX 411 as it supports simultaneously dual band connectivity (Intel® Double Connect Technology)

You're very welcome.
The AX211 is also a CNVio2 card.
I do not believe that any CNVio2 card is going to work in your notebook.
I don't know what configurations you are looking at, but normally the available wifi cards are listed as options.
That does not necessarily mean that if the AX211 is listed and the notebook came with the MediaTek MT7921 wifi adpater, that you can simply replace the one with the other.
However, it is your money, and I would never tell someone not to try what they want to try.
Just understand that there is an excellent chance an AX411 card is not going to work.
If it does, great.
We will all learn something from your endeavors.

I might just try it out if I get a new laptop, I can always return it and get a AX210 instead if it doesn't work.
According to this product page (https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/victus-by-hp-gaming-laptop-15t-fa000-6m0v3av-1) this 12th gen Victus model can be customized with an AX211 within their store. That would mean it would also support AX411. (I would assume other 12th gen Victus models would use the same motherboard.)
However, I have never seen anyone with an AX411. I've seen retailers sell them, but there's not a single post or video that I found of someone actually using the AX411, which is very odd.
My only interest in this card is that this is their first consumer card that supports simultaneous dual band connectivity according to Intel, which is a huge thing. Hence why I'm surprised that there's almost 0 information on this card by a consumer or a third party.

Yes, I have checked for other forum members who were interested in trying out the AX411 to see if HP was using any of those in their products yet, and I could not find any.
Even the newest, most high-end business notebooks and mobile workstations do not come with the AX 411 yet.

They are still being equipped with the AX 211's.
