HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 (1A3X9AV)

Hi there! My warranty expires soon on my dw3041nq hp laptop and I want to upgrade the RAM and storage. Is anyone out there who opened up one of these laptops to see if they are user-upgradable? I don't want to risk my laptop to be damaged for just "a look".

All I can tell you is that it will certainly support at least 2 x 8 GB of memory.

The Windows report will tell you exactly how much memory your notebook can support.

Hi:

The memory is removable/upgradable.

HP only has the service manual for the older 15-dw0xxx model series on your notebook's support page.

HP Laptop PC 15-dw3000 (1A3X9AV) Manuals | HP® Customer Support

According to the manual the notebook has two memory slots and can support 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Chapter 5 has the memory removal and replacement procedure.

According to the specs, your notebook uses DDR4-2666 MHz memory but if you wanted to install DDR4-3200 memory that would also work but at 2666 MHz.

Since the manual is outdated for your platform, you can do this to see how much memory your notebook can support.

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Hello Paul, thanks for the reply!

Is there a possibility to get 16GB of RAM or more on this laptop? Being stuck on 8GB its a bit of a problem to me, since i used to run on 16GB of RAM machines before, so having less RAM slightly feels its touch after a while

You're very welcome.

Did you run the Windows command and find out what the max memory is?

HP Recommended

No, i did not, but i checked my processor's specification sheet at ark.intel.com and it says it supports 64GB maximum
