The product specs for the notebook model series indicates that it comes with either 8 GB or 16 GB of onboard system memory.

 

HP 17 Laptop PC 17-cp2000 series specifications | HP® Support

 

Onboard means that the memory is an integral part of the motherboard and cannot be upgraded.

 

Different motherboards are used for the notebooks that come with either 8 GB or 16 GB of memory as set forth in chapter 3 of the service manual at the link below.
