Ive currently got 128gb of onboard storage, am I able to add more storage or even swap out the ssd for one with bigger storage space?

Yes you can:

 

Your Service manual

 

Your laptop can have a larger capacity M.2 SATA-3 2280 gumstick disk or it also has a bay to add a second drive in the form of a 2.5 inch wide SATA-3 HDD or SSD. For that you would need mounting hardware that is not included with your laptop but you can order from HP parts. 

 

The M.2 slot sorry to say is on the reverse side of the motherboard so a bit hard to get at. Here is a picture of the back of the motherboard after removed from the chassis:

Adding a 2.5 inch disk would probably cost about the same as installing a larger M.2. The drive would be cheaper but you would have to buy the mounting caddy and cable plus a drive. Installation would be quite a bit easier.
