Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently I purchased my HP laptop for school. Due to the pandemic, however, I will not be mobile with my laptop; rather, I would be at home with my laptop plugged in most of the time. It is proven that having your laptop stay at 100% is not good for the longevity of the battery, and since I will be using this laptop for a lot of my college years (hopefully 4+), I don't want to degrade it by not using the battery and leaving it plugged in most of the time. Is there a BIOS feature that I can enable to allow for battery charge limiting?

I've read online that HP provides what's called "Battery Health Manager" in the BIOS where the user can set which charge the laptop can hold. Is there any way I can get this on my Envy?

I've also read that HP also has something called "Adaptive Battery Optimizer" but is very vague with how it works and affects the battery. Can someone clarify that for me please?

Thanks in advance

Hi @DannyFan

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the battery issue.

Please refer to this document for more information - HP Notebook PCs - Improving Battery Performance (Windows)

Note - Battery Health Manager is a feature available only on the Business PCs.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hey @asmita6658

Thank you for your swift reply. I'm afraid much of your answer is what I have discovered already in that the "Battery Health Manager" option is only for business PCs. As a personal user, I would've loved to see HP implement a battery charge limiting feature like lenovo and asus, but I guess I will have to wait. The information on the adaptive battery optimizer and how it works is still vague, can you clarify that for me?

Thanks
