I've been having some recent troubles with my AC adapter and was hoping someone might be able to help.
After two years of wrapping it to put away, the cable for my original AC adapter for my Omen Laptop began to split and eventually was not recognised by my laptop which went into a state called 'Reduced Power Mode' in order to compensate for it not being an 'official charger', essentially limiting my FPS and causing it to drop intermittently, even in games that were previously stable. Because of this I recently replaced the old adapter with a new, identical one, which I acquired through the HP store, using the product code detailed in the user manual. However, after a couple of weeks, I plugged it back in to find the same message (I believe from HP System Event Utility) telling me that the charger I was using was not 'official' and that the laptop was running in 'Reduced Power Mode' until an official one is plugged in.
I have absolutely no idea how to fix this, as the 'Reduced power mode' doesn't seem to be in any way related to the general power settings, and I have no limiting factors in my settings or power plan. I have run diagnostics on startup, but it finds no issue with the adapter.
I didn't encounter any immediate issues with the new adapter, and it fixed the FPS issues I had been experiencing with the old charger, but ever since it enabled 'Reduced power mode' the issues have returned. I'd rather not have to replace any more parts, with the expense of the charger, and given that these issues seem to begin with the 'Reduced Power Mode' message, I believe it is most likely a software issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)
To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.
Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.
- To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon
.
- Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
- Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
- Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
- Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
- Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
