Star Wars Special Edition Notebook - 15-an001la (ENERGY STAR)

1) Product: HP Star Wars Special Edition Notebook, Model: 15-an001la, ProdID: L9L79LA#ABM, S/N: [Personal Information Removed]

2) Question: Does my HP Star Wars Special Edition Notebook (info above) have an SSD M.2 Slot?

Hey All! TIGF!

I really need your help and expertise regarding the following question:

Does my HP Star Wars Special Edition Notebook, Model: 15-an001la, ProdID: L9L79LA#ABM, S/N: [Personal Information Removed] have an SSD M.2 Slot?

I have gone through user manuals, service manuals, and I have found that some model have a hybrid SSD + HDD setup and other just have the spinning HDD, but the information is not clear or targeted to specific models or serial numbers.

In my case, my notebook does comes with a spinning 1TB HDD, but haven't found if this particular model - S/N has an SSD M.2 Slot so I can upgrade this laptop.

I would really appreciate your help if you have had any luck with this; to the extent of my abilities, it is quite daunting taking the laptop apart just to check if there is (or isn't) an SSD M.2 Slot.

I hope this message finds you well! Goodbye for now.

Warmest regards,

Hugo

Hi, Hugo:

Unfortunately, it does not appear your notebook supports a M.2 SSD.

Here is a related discussion where someone had a similar 15-an model and no SSD slot was present after he was informed that there was one.

Solved: Star Wars Special Edition Notebook - 15-an058ca M.2 Support - HP Support Community - 6626640

Back in those days, many HP notebooks only had a M.2 slot if the notebook came with a M.2 SSD from the factory.

The good news is the notebook would have only supported a SATA SSD anyway, so if you replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD, the performance would be exactly the same as a M.2 SATA SSD.
