Hi @mattjans,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The recovery partition on your HP Spectre x360 is used to store system recovery files, which can be used to restore your computer to its factory state in case of issues. The fact that it has only 1.3 GB free out of 10.4 GB doesn't necessarily indicate a problem, as long as the partition has enough space to store the necessary recovery files.
However, if you're concerned about the limited free space and want to free up some space, here are a few things you can consider.
- Check for Updates: Ensure that your operating system and all software are up to date. Sometimes updates can optimize system files and free up space.
- Disk Cleanup Utility: Use the built-in Disk Cleanup tool to remove unnecessary files. You can access this tool by typing "Disk Cleanup" in the Windows search bar and selecting the utility. It allows you to clean up system files, including the ones in the recovery partition.
- Remove Unnecessary Programs: Uninstall any programs or applications that you no longer need. This can be done through the "Add or Remove Programs" feature in the Control Panel.
- Move Personal Files: If you've stored personal files on the recovery partition, consider moving them to a different drive to free up space.
- Reduce System Restore Points: System Restore points can take up a significant amount of space. You can adjust the amount of space allocated for system restore or delete older restore points. To do this, right-click on "This PC" or "Computer," go to "Properties," and then click on "System Protection."
Before making any changes, it's essential to back up your important data to ensure that you don't accidentally delete anything critical. Also, be cautious not to delete any system files necessary for the recovery process.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
