I  purchased the drive that supposedly works with my system, M2, ssd, etc.  Original drive removed after cloning.  On switching bios, message of no hard drive keeps coming up.  I've changed boot order for USB to check, files are on new drive, but still won't boot.

Your notebook originally came with a 128 GB M.2 SATA SSD and you are trying to install NVMe SSDs which are not supported in the models with the AMD 'A' series processors.

HP PartSurfer

L20381-001
SSD 128GB 2280 M2 SATA3 TLC

Only the 15-db notebooks with the AMD Ryzen processors support NVMe SSDs' and that exclusion is not mentioned anywhere in the service manual.

If you need more storage, you can install the 1 TB WD Blue SA510 M2 SATA SSD.

Amazon.com: Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SA510 SATA Internal Solid State Drive SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/s,...

That is why when you tried to install Windows by booting from the W10 USB installation media, it can't find any drives to install on.

What model M.2 SSD did you install?

I tried a WD BLUE 1Tb SN5100 and a 2tb WD BLACK SN770, trying to see what worked.  Both times I had to use USB to boot windows, says no hard drive.

Thank you soooo much.  I've wasted enough money these last 2 weeks to have purchased another computer, but I wanted to stick with upgrading.   I really appreciate your help.
