Hi @GK246209,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've removed a keycap from your HP laptop to clean it and are having trouble reattaching it, follow these steps.

Inspect the Keycap and Retainer Clip:

  • Look at the underside of the keycap. You should see small plastic clips or pegs.
  • There should be a plastic retainer (hinge) on the keyboard that holds the keycap in place. Ensure it is not broken and is correctly aligned.

Align the Keycap:

  • Place the keycap directly over the retainer clip in the correct orientation (the letters or symbols should be facing up, of course).

Reattach the Keycap:

  • Apply gentle but firm pressure on the keycap. You should feel a small snap as it clicks back into place.
  • Start by pressing the keycap's corners or sides to ensure all clips are securely attached.

Check the Retainer Clip (if loose):

  • If the retainer clip has come off, align the two pieces (they usually form a scissor shape) and reattach them to the keyboard first.
  • Once the retainer clip is secure, follow the above steps to attach the keycap.

If you're having difficulty, there are many video tutorials online that show how to replace laptop keycaps, which might help guide you through the process step by step.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
