HP 2550 G7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5-2500U; 512 GB SSD; 8 GB RAM (DDR4); DVD-Brenner

Hi:

it is not easily done because your notebook does not have any of the internal parts to add a 2.5" drive.

You would have to purchase the drive caddy, screws, and hard drive connector to mount the drive in the bay.

These parts may not be readily available and may cost more than just replacing the 512 GB M.2 SSD with a 1 TB one.

Here is the link to the service manual.  Chapter 3 has the list of parts.

Here is a link to the service video which shows how to remove and replace the 2.5" drive.  You can see what parts are involved.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about removing the DVD drive and replacing it with a SSD.

It can be done, but I don't have any information on how.

I do know that replacing the DVD with a SSD is the worst possible way of adding storage, because the port the DVD connects to is very slow.
