I just got a new laptop for college 2 days ago. It already came with several problems (which I have since fixed), and there is one that is giving me particular trouble. I keep getting an error message when I scroll using 2 finger touch on the trackpad. It reads as follows:

windows cannot find "C:\Program files\synaptics\syntp\syntpenh.exe" /SHELL EXEc "C\program files\synaptics\syntp\syntphelper.exe'. make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.

If I exit out of it, it will just pop up a few scrolls later. I thought, "No problem, I'll just reinstall the drivers," but that didnt help. I have completely uninstalled it and deleted all related files followed by a fresh install. That didnt fix it either. I've looked online, and followed what this post told me to, but that had no effect.  I would just leave the little error message open, as that stops it from popping up again, but seeing as I paid a premium for this laptop, I dont want to settle on this problem.

If anyone knows how to fix this, I would really appreciate it. Its kind of driving me mad here.

Thanks

I contacted HP support through chat. The agent looked through several troubleshooting methods while remote controlling my laptop, and came to the conclusion that it is a hardware problem and I have to get the trackpad itself replaced. I hope this can be helpful for anyone that has experience the same problem, because through my internet research I wasnt able to find anything helpful up until this contact with HP support 😕

Have you checked your Support page for latest drivers,BIOS,etc? Or open HP Support Assistant installed on the laptop and use it to scan for updates. I have known HP SA to miss some at times.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to also use Diagnostics to check for hardware issue. Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and run some tests.

I've done both of those, but neither has solved the problem

@rhyker

For more help I suggest to contact HP via Chat or phone. Open HP Support Assistant, click at top on Support tab to get contact info.

OR-go to your Support page online and click button at top-"Contact HP".
