I am inquiring as to why all of a sudden my laptop's backlight stopped working. I usually would press the f5 key and it would come on, but it just stopped. I have tried all of the fixes i could find online to no avail. Please help.

HI @Granster,
Welcome to the HP Community forum!
If you have access to an external display or HDTV, use the HDMI port to connect it.
Press the power button and immediately press the F2 key to access the UEFI diagnostics tests.
Go to component tests and test the display.
Let us know what your results are.
With the display connected, do you see everything normal in Windows 10?

Thanks for the clarification.
Did this start after an update? If what I suggested in the next sentence does not resolve the issue, reinstalling the chipset driver package may help
With notebooks which have the backlit keyboard, the backlight can be turned on by tapping the F5 key, which has an icon that looks a bit like a keyboard with three strikes to the upper left.
