Yes, it must be checked. Soldering work may be necessary.

Good luck

Hello @cruisinfanatic

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

(1) Please check the keyboard ribbon cable and clean the copper contacts on the cable and on the jack (mainboard) "carefully" with isopropanol (or nail polish remover)

(2) Test keyboard using HP Diagnostics UEFI > Component test

(3) Please report your results

Last night I removed the ribbon and immediately saw there was debris on one of the contacs. I cleaned and success. Working again. This morning I start it up and back to the same problem. Cleaned again with no success this time

Hello @cruisinfanatic

(1) You could try cutting the end of keyboard ribbon cable by 0.5-1 mm to change the position of the copper contacts in the jack.

(2) Test again ...

Kind regards

Hello @cruisinfanatic

There is something wrong here. Take a magnifying glass and check all contacts in this area very carefully!

? Is this the correct socket ? It seems to me larger than the number of contacts on the keybaord ribbon cable ?

It's a shadow. Looks all white and clean with magnifying glass
