Of couse but there are several generations of the dv7 so we need the exact model number so we can determine the right manual and specify the exactly correct keyboard part number. It is an easy DIY replacement and the keyboard will be $30 US or less. And where do you live (country) and what language is the keyboard?

The exact model number is HP Envy dv7- 7334ea. The serial num,ber is [edited]
The Product number is DOX 38EA.
I understand that the HPKeyboard spare number is 639396-031. Maybe another number CX12AO might be helpful too?
I live in the Uk and the language is English.
Is there likely to be a UK based supply?
Many thanks for your help.

Here is the Manual:
Keyboards listed on p. 23-24. "How to" for replacement on p. 59-62
I have this as your part number:
For use only on computer models equipped with an Intel processor in the United Kingdom 681980-031
This is non-backlit and a backlit version does not appear to be available for U.K. but a U.S. English version is. The Canadian one may essentially be the same as a UK keyboard.
This is a US version shipped from Hong Kong to UK:
This appears to be the U.K. English version shipped from Germany but is pretty pricey:
Another US English version from Hong Kong:
Backlit? U.S. version from amazon UK:
Same thing on UK eBay:
Personally I would go cheap and learn to use the U.S. version as it seems much more readily available.
HP would not longer have this part for sale. Post back with any more questions. Please accept as solution if its the info you needed.

That all sounds very helpful potentially.
However I am a little confused . The part number I have for the keyboard is 639396-031 wheras you refer to a different part number as 681980-031?
How can I be sure the part you refer to will fit /be compatible with my laptop?
Or have I been given a wrong part number for my laptop perhaps?
I 'm sure you apprecaite this is important.
Many thanks for your advice on this.

Sometimes the laptop is assembled with parts which get updated later. I am sure the manual I posted is correct for your laptop and that means the keyboard part number I posted is correct, too. When I search under the part number you give it shows up as the keyboard for an earlier series of laptops, the dv7-6xxx series.
Where did you get the part number you reference? With all due humility, not too many sources are as accurate as this writer for finding replacement laptop parts. Been doing it a long time, but admittedly fully capable of error.

I am not in any way doubting your expertise. Just wanting to make sure I order and get a part that fits my machine.
The information on my laptop which shows where I got the info from. is on the keyboard itself saying " Replace with HP spare 639396-031"
I hope this helps and will enable you to advise on the suitable option and source?
Many thanks indeed.
