I have had an issue for the past year, where after updating my laptop my trackpad and keyboard stop working. I am confident that this is a driver issue, as the keyboard and trackpad both work in BIOS. It has disallowed me from updating my laptop as there seems to be no way to advance to a newer update without my trackpad and keyboard stopping working. Please don't come at me with obvious questions. Yes I have restarted many, many times. Yes I've tried to use diagnostic services, and trying to update drivers manually. I figured it was about time to ask here as it is imperative this issue be solved as I use this laptop on the daily for schoolwork.

Thanks,

Daniel

I general, if hardware devices work OK  before a Windows Update but not AFTER, then the Windows Update forced a driver update onto you -- which it will do without your knowledge or permission.

The keyboard and trackpad in the BIOS do not use Windows drivers, so faulty drivers in Windows will not affect there usage there.

If your keyboard and trackpad drivers are working NOW, then i suggest you follow these instructions to disable driver updates through Windows Updates:  http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/48277-driver-updates-windows-update-enable-disable-windows-10-a.h...

I have done this on all my PCs and have had no drivers issues since!

In addition, you can follow these directions to save off the working drivers so if they DO get overwritten, you can restore them back to their working version: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/68426-backup-restore-device-drivers-windows-10-a.html
