Hello @Vibek07, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for reaching out regarding your HP device.

I understand how concerning it can be to see an indicator light remain on after the laptop has been shut down, and I’m glad to assist you with this.

If the Wi-Fi indicator light on your HP ProBook 650 G5 remains illuminated after shutdown, it is usually related to power management settings, BIOS configuration, or driver behavior. Please review the steps below to help address the issue:

1. Check BIOS Settings

Power on the laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI by pressing F10 or F2 during startup.

Navigate to the Advanced tab and locate Built-in Device Options.

Review any settings related to Wake-on-LAN (WOL) or power supplied to the wireless module, and disable them if they are enabled.

Save the changes and exit the BIOS.

2. Review Power Management Settings

Open Device Manager in Windows.

Expand Network Adapters and locate your Wi-Fi adapter.

Right-click the adapter and select Properties.

Under the Power Management tab:

Ensure Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is checked.

Uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer, if available.

3. Check System and Driver Updates

Make sure Windows is fully up to date.

Confirm that the latest network drivers are installed, either through Windows Update or the official HP Support website.

4. Confirm the Shutdown State

Verify that the laptop is fully shut down and not in Sleep or Hibernate mode.

You can perform a hard shutdown by pressing and holding the power button for 5–10 seconds.

5. Reset Network Settings

If needed, you can reset the network settings by navigating to:
SettingsNetwork & InternetStatusNetwork reset

I hope these steps help clarify the behavior you’re seeing and guide you toward a resolution. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Take care and have an amazing day!
