Good Day,
I am having issues where my keyboard disconnects from my PC at random times. The keyboard then reconnects automatically or some action might be performed involuntarily like backspacing in a Google Doc which I was busy in.
At other times, the escape key opens the Windows menu when pressed. I have checked my system event log where there are a few errors and numerous warning messages. One of the warnings round about the time of issues, was "Power Manager has requested suppression of all input(INPUT_SUPPRESS_REQUEST=1)".
At the time of I had a smartwatch, wireless mouse, and keyboard connected via a USB hub to one USB port onboard the PC.
Does anyone know what could be causing these issues?
Thank you so much.
I appreciate any help.
Regards,

Hi @William_RSA,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for your thoughtful message and for being so detailed. It really helps in understanding what’s going on. I can imagine how disruptive it must be when your keyboard disconnects randomly, especially while working on something important like a Google Doc. Let’s get to the bottom of this together.
Your HP 15.6-inch Laptop PC 15-fc0000 (733M2AV) is showing signs of USB power management conflicts, especially with multiple devices connected via a USB hub. The warning message:
"Power Manager has requested suppression of all input (INPUT_SUPPRESS_REQUEST=1)"
suggests that Windows is temporarily disabling input devices, possibly due to power draw limits, driver conflicts, or interference from connected peripherals.
1. Avoid USB Hubs for Input Devices
HP recommends connecting keyboards and mice directly to the laptop’s USB ports, not through a hub. USB hubs can cause intermittent disconnections due to power or bandwidth sharing.

2. Disable USB Selective Suspend
This prevents Windows from turning off USB devices to save power:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings.
- Click Change advanced power settings.
- Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting → Set to Disabled.
3. Update Keyboard and Chipset Drivers
- Visit the HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fc0000 (733M2AV) | HP® Support.
- Download and install the latest keyboard, chipset, and BIOS updates.
4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and press F2 to enter diagnostics.
- Run the keyboard test to check for hardware faults.
5. Check for Sticky Keys or Filter Keys
Sometimes accessibility settings interfere with normal input:
- Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
- Turn off Sticky Keys, Filter Keys, and Toggle Keys.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
