Thank you for taking an interest in the Hp support forums and a good day to you. I read your response and will gladly assist you here.
- Do you know what update caused this to happen?
- Did you run hardware diagnostics on the keyboard and touchpad?
- Did you connect an external wired USB keyboard and mouse work correctly?
Let's try these steps:
- Perform a hard reset on the computer by following steps from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01684768
- Now check if the issue gets fixed. If it continues, then from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03467259 (HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures) run diagnostics on the keyboard and mouse. Please follow instructions from the component tests. If any component fails, it will give you a failure code for the failed component. Please make a note of it.
- The computer needs to be repaired and either the keyboard or touchpad might require a replacement.
If diagnostics pass then perform a system restore to an earlier time by connecting an external keyboard and mouse to the computer and following instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03327545 (HP PCs - Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 10, 8)
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
