@Ez_ed, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Update Drivers
Open Device Manager, go to Keyboards, right-click your keyboard, and choose Update driver.
Or uninstall it and restart your laptop—Windows will reinstall it.
Use HP Support Assistant
Download it from HP Support Assistant | HP® Support to check for updates and fix common issues automatically.
Clean the Keyboard
Turn off your laptop and use compressed air or a soft cloth to clean around the keys.
Test in BIOS
Restart and press F10 to enter BIOS. Try the arrow key—if it still misbehaves, it's likely a hardware issue.
Run HP Diagnostics
Use HP’s hardware diagnostics tool to test the keyboard for faults.
Hard Reset
Turn off the laptop, unplug it, press and hold the power button for 15–30 seconds, then turn it back on.
Check for Problem Apps
Some software can interfere with keyboard input. Try closing background apps to see if the issue goes away.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
