@ZEILE, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If some keys on your HP 15.6-inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV) are not working, try these troubleshooting steps:
Check for Physical Damage
- Inspect the keyboard for dust, debris, or liquid spills.
- If there's visible dirt, gently clean it using compressed air or a soft brush.
Restart Your Laptop
- A simple restart can fix minor software glitches.
Use an External Keyboard
- Connect an external USB or Bluetooth keyboard.
- If the external keyboard works fine, it suggests a hardware issue with your built-in keyboard.
Check for Software Issues
Run the Keyboard Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters.
- Find Keyboard, click Run, and follow the instructions.
Update or Reinstall the Keyboard Driver
- Right-click on Start → Select Device Manager.
- Expand Keyboards → Right-click on Standard PS/2 Keyboard.
- Click Update driver → Search automatically for drivers.
- If the issue persists, Uninstall the keyboard driver and restart your laptop.
Check Language and Input Settings
- Go to Settings → Time & Language → Language & Region.
- Ensure the correct keyboard layout is selected (e.g., US QWERTY).
- Test typing in Notepad or Word.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
- Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and power on.
Boot into Safe Mode
- Restart your laptop and enter Safe Mode (Press Shift + Restart → Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Safe Mode).
- If the keyboard works in Safe Mode, a software conflict might be causing the issue.
Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings → Windows Update.
- Click Check for Updates and install any available updates.
Check for BIOS/Firmware Updates
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Enter your laptop's model: HP 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV).
- Download and install any available BIOS or firmware updates.
Consider a Keyboard Replacement
- If none of the above steps work, the keyboard may be damaged and need replacement.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
