@ZEILE, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If some keys on your HP 15.6-inch Laptop PC 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV) are not working, try these troubleshooting steps:

Check for Physical Damage

  • Inspect the keyboard for dust, debris, or liquid spills.
  • If there's visible dirt, gently clean it using compressed air or a soft brush.

Restart Your Laptop

  • A simple restart can fix minor software glitches.

Use an External Keyboard

  • Connect an external USB or Bluetooth keyboard.
  • If the external keyboard works fine, it suggests a hardware issue with your built-in keyboard.

Check for Software Issues

Run the Keyboard Troubleshooter

  1. Go to SettingsSystemTroubleshootOther troubleshooters.
  2. Find Keyboard, click Run, and follow the instructions.

Update or Reinstall the Keyboard Driver

  1. Right-click on Start → Select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Keyboards → Right-click on Standard PS/2 Keyboard.
  3. Click Update driverSearch automatically for drivers.
  4. If the issue persists, Uninstall the keyboard driver and restart your laptop.

Check Language and Input Settings

  1. Go to SettingsTime & LanguageLanguage & Region.
  2. Ensure the correct keyboard layout is selected (e.g., US QWERTY).
  3. Test typing in Notepad or Word.

Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  3. Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the battery and power on.

Boot into Safe Mode

  • Restart your laptop and enter Safe Mode (Press Shift + RestartAdvanced OptionsStartup SettingsSafe Mode).
  • If the keyboard works in Safe Mode, a software conflict might be causing the issue.

Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to SettingsWindows Update.
  2. Click Check for Updates and install any available updates.

Check for BIOS/Firmware Updates

  1. Visit the HP Support website.
  2. Enter your laptop's model: HP 15-d5000 (4V9Y1AV).
  3. Download and install any available BIOS or firmware updates.

Consider a Keyboard Replacement

  • If none of the above steps work, the keyboard may be damaged and need replacement.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
