Hi @TracyG1012,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • The exact HP laptop model you are using.
  • Whether the keyboard is completely unresponsive or only certain keys are affected.
  • If you are using the built-in keyboard or an external one.

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Check for Windows Updates
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update and ensure all pending updates (including optional driver updates) are installed.
  2. Run the Keyboard Troubleshooter
    • Navigate to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
    • Run the Keyboard troubleshooter to automatically detect and fix issues.
  3. Update  Manager, expand Keyboards, right-click your keyboard, and select Update driver.
    • If the issue started right after the update, you can also try Roll back driver under Properties > Driver.
  4. Check Language and Input Settings
    • Go to Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region and confirm the correct keyboard layout is selected.
  5. Test with an External Keyboard
    • If possible, connect an external USB keyboard to check if the issue is hardware-specific or system-related.
  6. Perform a Hard Reset
  • Shut down your laptop, disconnect power and external devices, then press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Reconnect and restart.

I hope this helps.
