A couple of my keys do two thing at once when I press them. The letter c also makes a space, e is also the up arrow, and the backspace is f4.

Hi @abarker2

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you're experiencing an issue with your keyboard. In most cases, this is not due to a hardware “double-key” failure. Instead, it is typically caused by the keyboard switching into a function or hotkey mode, an accessibility setting, or a keyboard layout or driver issue. I would request you to please follow the steps:

I would request you to please make sure you turn off the Fn lock Press Fn + Shift key once

  • Then test the keys again

Test with External keyboard

  • Plug in a USB keyboard
  • Test typing the keys.

Reinstall keyboard driver

  • Right-click Start button
  • Click Device Manager
  • Expand Keyboards
  • Right-click:
  • HID Keyboard Device
  • Click Uninstall device
  • Restart laptop.

HP UEFI Keyboard Test (Simple Steps)

  • Shut down the laptop completely.
  • Turn it ON and keep pressing Esc repeatedly.
  • When Startup Menu appears, press F2 (Diagnostics).
  • Go to Component Tests.
  • Select Input Devices → Keyboard Test.
  • Press the keys shown on screen (also test C, E, Backspace).

Check Sticky Keys / Accessibility settings

  • Press Windows + I
  • Go to Accessibility
  • Open Keyboard
  • Turn OFF:
  • Sticky Keys
  • Filter Keys
  • Toggle Keys

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
