HP Gaming Pavilion
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello community!

I would like to know if I can somehow adjust the keyboard's light brightness level on my HP Gaming Pavilion laptop.

Model: 15-cx0036ur

Product number: RTL8822BE.

I have tried to press F5 key several times, but it just turns the light on/off without actually modifying brightness level.

Is there any specific software I should have installed in order to make it work?

Thanks in advance!

@Andrew_K_T I'm afraid not all laptop designs support backlight timeout or brightness options, and it seems that this product only supports on/off,

There are no options to tweak this as off now.

I hope that answers your query,

@Andrew_K_T Welcome to HP Forums!

I have a few steps to help you out:

I understand the options may not exist on a newer version of BIOS, depending on the model series, that said, I was wondering if you have checked this link during your research,

Meanwhile, here's what you need to know:

If your notebook computer has a backlit keyboard, there is a special key on the keyboard to turn the light on and off.
Use the backlight in dim lighting situations.

   NOTE:

Not all HP notebooks have a backlit keyboard. Check the product specifications for your notebook model to verify whether it is equipped with a backlit keyboard.

To turn the keyboard backlight on or off, press the F5 key. If the backlight icon is not on the F5 key, look for the backlit keyboard key on the row of function keys. It might be necessary to press the Fn (function) key at the same time to activate the backlight key.

Let me know how that pans out,

Thanks for providing some information on keyboard backlit support.

According to "Adjust the brightness of backlight" section from this thread, I should have been able to change the backlit brightness by simply pressing several times keyboard light button.

Unfortunately, when I do this I only get the backlit turning on/off without actually modifying the light brightness.

Should I have installed some specific HP software in order to be able to change the backlight brightness with backlit key (maybe something similar to HP Omen keyboard assistant laptop series)?

Thanks!
