@blackjo, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

(troubleshoot)If your HP Laptop 15-fd0068ca keyboard is locked upon startup or reboot, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Disconnect all external devices, such as USB drives, printers, and monitors.
  • Unplug the AC adapter from the laptop.
  • If the laptop has a removable battery, remove it.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge.
  • Reinsert the battery (if removed) and plug in the AC adapter.
  • Turn on the laptop and see if the keyboard is functional.

Update Keyboard Drivers:

  • Open the Device Manager by pressing Windows Key + X and selecting "Device Manager" from the list.
  • Expand the "Keyboards" section.
  • Right-click on your keyboard device and select "Update driver."
  • Choose to search automatically for updated driver software and follow the on-screen instructions.

Check Keyboard Settings:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Ease of Access" > "Keyboard."
  • Make sure that "Filter Keys," "Sticky Keys," and "Toggle Keys" are turned off, as these features can affect keyboard function.

Run HP Support Assistant:

  • Use the pre-installed HP Support Assistant on your laptop to check for any updates or diagnostics that could resolve the keyboard issue. You can find it by searching for "HP Support Assistant" in the start menu.

BIOS Update:

I hope this helps.
