Hi @Lara662

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the image and description. I can see the keyboard marks faintly visible on the screen, which you're observing even during BIOS, indicating they are permanent impressions or pressure damage on the display panel.

Why This Happens:

These marks typically occur due to pressure between the keyboard and screen when the laptop is closed—especially if:

The laptop lid is pressed while shut (e.g., inside a backpack)

The screen is ultra-thin or the rubber spacers between the keyboard and display are worn or missing

Over time, the keyboard can leave pressure stains or even cause localized LCD degradation

Can It Be Covered Under Warranty?

Yes, in many cases, this kind of issue may be covered, depending on the following:

Warranty Coverage Depends On:

Warranty Type: Standard warranty may or may not cover physical screen marks. If you have Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) or HP Care Pack, coverage is more likely.

HP’s Assessment: The service center will inspect the screen to check if it qualifies as a manufacturing defect or customer-induced damage.

If there’s no visible impact or cracks, and the marks are consistent with long-term pressure wear, you may have a valid case for warranty coverage.

You can verify warranty status here:

Check HP Warranty Status

In the Meantime

Avoid closing the lid tightly or placing anything on top of the laptop.

You may consider using a keyboard cloth or microfiber sheet between the screen and keyboard when closing the lid to prevent further pressure.

Please let me know your exact model name and whether you have standard or extended warranty, and I can assist further in preparing for the warranty claim process.
