Firstly i am hugely disappointing how hard it is to shop for a replacement part through hp. I cannot imagine how this is something that's even remotely hard to do for a company as big as hp. Why do i need a new keyboard? because two of my keys are not working right and the machine is only about 2 years old and well looked after. I know for a fact that my keyboard has a problem i ran the diagnostics tests and i have checked the keys physical keys, they have stopped working.
All i want is to be able to EASILY REPLACE my keyboard by buying the replacement keyboard through HP because its an HP product.. a very expensive product that now has a problem.
This is what i expected when going to the hp site :
1)PARTS REPLACEMENT / ORDER TAB
2) detect system specs and serial number
3) show all parts descriptions and serial numbers
4) select part
5) go to cart and pay
Instead i found myself jumping through hoops page after page of nothing and ....lets not even get started on the "virtual assistant" ... more of nothing!
SO...... How exactly can HP customers EASILY order something as mundane as a keyboard replacement?

HP already has 1,3,4 and 5. 2 is the only missing bit and we have to work out ourselves. The main problem is HP won't stock many parts since that is a expensive business.

Well, very hard, on many machines we have to replace the whole top, no part just for keyboard alone.
Regards.

Firstly thank you for taking the time to respond. I have owned various machines through the years and i have some experience with parts that most need to be replaced. When it comes to keyboard and key replacements i've seen many queries online, therefore i'm sure my issue is not an outlier. If HP cannot stock or even list a part, why not help their customers by listing potential third parties who can( on the same web page! ). Otherwise let their customers know that no other parts replacement are possible. You say its expensive for HP to carry many parts as its expensive business, what about the client who buys an expensive machine and carries the risk of no parts available? isn't it "expensive business" for the client? this makes me wonder if perhaps supporting another brand would better suit my needs.
In my opinion these are the parts people might most likely be looking to replace due to wear or upgrade, i actually expect HP to have them, not a third party:
- Laptop screen
- Ram
- SSD / hard drives
- wireless card ( maybe )
- keyboard keys / full keyboard replacement.
- power supply
!For everything else maybe the machine can be booked in to tech support for repair.
Sir that does not sound like hundreds of parts for one machine. Maybe you meant hundreds of parts for all all the models on the market In that case Hp can pre list fast moving parts per user based on the machine model they own.
If its the top part of the laptop that need to replaced then Let HP's site indicate that on the part page ( its that simple) im not about to tell HP how to list their keyboards or any other part for that matter.
I any case the HP user page is way too bloated with too many links. The only part listed under my machine is an SSD. No links to third parties, no mention of other parts! And the FUN part is that after you have logged on and clicked twice to reach "parts", you are required to again enter your model number or serial number. Really?
