I decided to wipe down my laptop with a damp/wet paper towel and soap. After wiping down the keyboard enough I closed the lid and proceeded with the exterior then opened it back up and the keyboard isn't working. Only the power key works and I left it outside for about thirty minutes or so in in hopes that it would dry, touchpad was being difficult before placing outside to dry.. now it's working. Have I somehow locked the keyboard or does it have to be replaced? I did not dismantle or take apart the laptop for cleaning. I appreciate any help/advice.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Let's perform a hard reset from here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03665293
If the issue persists, please perform a recovery using the same document.
Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for your help Betty. Unfortunately the hard reset does not work and I do not want to fix or believe it's the OS that is damaged. I will be ordering a replacement. Power key still working gives hope of recovery just unsure.

Let's perform the keyboard test:
- Make sure the power cord and adapter is connected to the system and wall outlet.
- Press and hold the power button until the computer turns off completely.
- Turn on the computer.
- Immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second, until the UEFI Hardware Diagnostics screen is displayed.
- In the UEFI Main menu, select Component Tests.
- In the Component Tests menu, select Keyboard.
Click Run once, or Loop until error.
While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.
If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.
