Hello. I have a HP 255 G7 Notebook PC 6UV50UP - AMD System, A4-9125 15 8GB/256 PC. Currently 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD. M.2 2280-D2-B-M - SAMSUNG MZNLN256HAJQ-000H1. Disk Controller,"AMD SATA Controller (AHCI) [VEN: 1022, DEV: 7904] Version: 1.3.1.277. I am not able to provide you with more specifications, since the PC is not functioning, needs a new SSD in M2 slot.
I would like to replace the SSD and I am not sure if NVMe SSD's are supported in this model and if not, would you please be so kind as to advise me a SATA III SSD of 256GB or 500 GB in size that would work in the M2 slot?
In manual I see the option for NVMe SSD's, but some info. is controversial because the information applies to different models as well. All I know that it has an AMD CPU. but I have not opened the notebook to check since it is not so easy to open it.
If from the information I just provided you could assist me, I would be very grateful.
Thank you so much for your time and for any advise you might have.
Respectfully,
Johan

From the following information
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-255-g7-notebook-pc/24381324/document/c06194380#AbT5
The series has many models/products and it supports SINGLE storage using 2.5" SATA or M.2 SSD but not both at the same time.
Looks like the M.2 slot supports BOTH SATA-3 and NVMe SSD's.
Regards.

Dear Sir,
Thank you kindly for your message and advise. Yes indeed, in a different issue, first I read that max. RAM is 8 gb and when I run the Crucial RAM scan, it detected additional empty slot for another 8 GB RAM. Well, I assume I will find out when I open the Notebook, I just want to have all parts together, since I watched a Youtube clip how complicated (to me) it will be to open the back cover and get to the M2 and RAM. Thank you again for your help.
Respectfully,
Johan

Hello. I just purchased another 8 gb RAM stick as per Crucial scan it supports 16 gb. I opened the tablet, and there was only one channel soldered on the board but next to it was a place on the board for another slot but the connection for ram is not there, not soldered on. Could I purchase a 16 gb RAM and remove the 8 gb? Thank you.

Hello Sir.
Yes, you were absolutely correct. The fact that providing the exact product and model information is still not enough to make sure what the Notebook supports or not. I Just returned the purchased additional 8 GB RAM, as the Aida 64 software as well as the Crucial Memory and SSD Scan clearly shows compatibility for additional 8 GB RAM but as I mentioned earlier, upon opening the case, there is only single channel that is usable for RAM with 8 GB on it. Next to it on the board is space for another slot but the manufacturer has not installed the device to insert the RAM module into and the clips to hold the RAM module. Also, I purchased a 500 GB Crucial P3 NVMe SSD and the system did not detect it. I formatted this SSD properly on my main PC but the HP 255 G7 Notebook PC 6UV50UP would not detect it. Therefore, I returned the Crucial 500gb P3 NVMe SSD as well. Now, I tried to install Windows 10 on the original 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD M.2 2280-D2-B-M - SAMSUNG. It detects it, but it will not let me install it from the USB drive. (EFI/NTFS). I have tried all option in BIOS but no solution. At this point, I just would like to buy a 500gb M.2 SATA SSD. M.2 2280 as there is no option using using 2.5" SATA drive.
The notebook has Windows 10 Pro Edition Embedded and running it with the single 8 gb 2666 RAM module may be not enough.
Would you advise me to try purchasing single 16 GB RAM and remove the 8 GB? It may or may not work.
I would appreciate instructing me which type/brand of 500gb M.2 SATA III SSD. M.2 2280 would be advisable on this system and possibly why I am not able to install the OS to the original Drive 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD. M.2 2280-D2-B-M - SAMSUNG is still functional. I understand that there are no ideal solutions that would work for sure, but I am willing to try. I would sincerely appreciate, welcome and value any advice from you or a member of the Community Support Forum how to proceed as I am out of ideas and options. Thank you kindly for your consideration and any support or advice you might have.
Respectfully,
