I think "L" key behaviour could be easier.

To get alternate characters:

< character: FN + L

> character: SHIFT+ FN + L (in this order, with FN + SHIFT + L you get < character)

\ character: FN + ALT GR + L (I would simply use just ALT GR + L like other keys with character printed in the lower right corner for example # or @)

Hi @Philsan69,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the L key, when you press it gives other input.

May I know if you made any changes to the keyboard layout?

Have you made any hardware or software changes to your PC?

Please help us with the Product serial number or the product number in a private message for further assistance.

You didn't read my post.

I don't have an issue, the L key works.

The problem is that L key behavior could be better and more similar to other keys behavior.

Thank you for your response.

May I know if the key is getting stuck or is hard to press?

Could you elaborate on the issue for better understanding?

As written in my first  post

1.

To get "\" character, it would be better to just press ALT GR + L like other keys with character printed in the lower right corner (for example # or @) instead of FN + ALT GR + L.

2.

It is strange that to get ">" character you have to press SHIFT+ FN + L in this exact order, if you press FN before SHIFT you get "<" character.

Here is the explanation I received in a personal message, I think it can be useful for other people.

"On a French (Switzerland) keyboard layout, the placement of certain programming‑critical keys like <, >, and \ can indeed feel unintuitive compared to layouts optimised for coding. By default, the Swiss French layout prioritises accented characters and symbols used in French writing, which means the backslash \ is not directly accessible in the same way as on US or UK keyboards.

For programmers, the AltGr key (the right Alt key) is meant to provide access to additional symbols. On many European layouts, AltGr + key combinations give you characters like \, {}, [], and |. However, on the Swiss French layout, the backslash is tucked away and doesn’t follow the "standard" AltGr behaviour you might expect from other layouts (like German or US International)".

Thank you for taking the time to share the explanation you received. We appreciate your effort in providing details that may be helpful to other users facing similar challenges with the Swiss French keyboard layout.
